APPLICANT #17: Winn Brewer

Winn Brewer is an 23-year-old recent graduate from Florence.

Here is Winn's video application:

Here is Winn's current situation:

Hello Alabama!  Ha, I can actually tell a little more about me (the 1 minute video makes it hard to fit a lot in)!  I am a recent graduate from the University of North Alabama with a Communications Degree in Radio/Television/Film production.  I am also still pursuing a degree in Geographical studies.  I am enjoying having some free time after the past 3 years of SUPER INVOLVEMENT:  SGA President, George Lindsey Film Festival Committee Student Chair, Honors Program, being a Resident Assistant, Interning part time, Habitat for Humanitying, being involved with a Fraternity, etc.  Whew!  Makes me want to take a nap just thinking about those days!

Well, apart from enjoying a little freedom, I have enjoyed taking quit a few road trips lately:  Louisiana, Cincinnati, New York, and Connecticutt, I say "you're only Young and Free once"- Ha!

On a side note, over the past few weeks I had been volunteering at the Sweetwater Plantation House telling ghost stories and leading haunted historic tours... it was an interestingly eerie experience!

I hope that I will get to meet a lot of people through this- even if its just networking through the Young Free Alabama site.

Here is Winn's blog post:

Applying for this position is more than an opportunity for me, it is a way of life.  Living economically and financially sound is what everyone dreams of.  I feel that the Young Free Alabama Campaign will bring benefit to all it touches.  Thus far, I would say it has been a success, everyone I have talked to about it is very aware of the spokesperson position and the hieghtened awareness of credit unions.

I am consistently dealing with people in a financial struggle:  a work, at home, in passing, and in my own hands.  However, with cautious and wise investing, I have learned that many of those fears can be allieviated.  Especially for students (definately a perk for the 25 and younger crowd).  Many credit unions offer special rates and options accomodating student needs!  Students truly fail to realize the potential they have with our credit unions; and it is now my drive to LET THEM KNOW!

If more campaigns like the Young & Free Campaign can be developed and instituted, I see a stronger, wealthier future for all of us.  As a communication major, I know that the problems people face today is from such an onslaught of messages.  Everyone says, "this is the best deal", or "we have the best interest", but truly none of them do (but they do have all the means necessary to solicit potential clients).  Corporate America is trying to take advantage of the people, it is time that we make noise of this,  sound the alarm, it's time to take back our futures!

I am overly enthused about this project and look forward to making some "change" with our futures!
