Buy your books!

So the semester is either over or about to be and hopefully you have sold your books. Now before you throw your $25 on a Taco Bell binge, think about using that for some used books for next semester.

Here are some tips on getting your hands on USED books for next semester:

Buy them early. If you are confident on the book required for the class, look for it early so you can have your pick and get one in good shape. Also, if you procrastinate, they may all be gone and you could have to get a new book (boo!).

Buy online. I shouldn't have to say this. But buying books online is THE way to go. Some great places include: half.com, amazon.com, bookfinder.com, and valorebooks.com. Google it for more sites.

Borrow a friend's book. Maybe you know someone that has taken the class before you and didn't sell the book. Borrow it, or buy it for cheap. I'm sure they would rather have some gas money than a textbook.

Share a book. Go in with a friend and buy the book together, then share it throughout the semester. This wouldn't work for every class, but I'm sure it would for most.

Use previous editions. You can usually find older editions of books for a lot cheaper. Chapters are sometimes out of order, but how often does History of Ancient Civilization change?

We all know college textbooks are way expensive and outta control, so do your part in fighting the system and buy used books. Every time you do, a fairy gets her wings, or dies, I can't remember.
